“After taking our order the same waiter came back half an hour min later to ask us what we had ordered. We obliged. Food arrived 10 minutes later. It was not ours. We reordered. The food took another half hour to arrive. Portions were minuscule and salad came with hardly any seasoning. I had to go twice to get some olive oil. I spoke to the manager who agreed not to charge us for the meal. Altogether a place to be avoided.”

“Horribly rude spanish server. When ordering, I kindly asked for a warm latte as I don't like it when its super hot. The server then made fun of me saying "well coffee comes warm usually isnt it?" To which I responde (still nicely) explaining that if I can please ask to have it warm rather than hot, asking to please put some cold milk at the end. He then made the coffee super hot, and taking a sip I said "Could I please ask for some cold milk", he completely ignored me and then I got angry and asked for cold milk again to which he turned arround and said "you can say please, yes? " I honestly was shocked at how rude he was. I am incredibly respectful to everyone that works in hospitality as I used to do the same work myself, and I was nice to him too until the point he ignored me. Terrible! Just terrible! And all this and the coffee was terrible as well... Very disappointed! The one good thing was the Basque Cheesecake. That was quite nice!”

“Fabulous bar at the back / top end of the Royal Academy. We visited on a Friday evening to enjoy the ‘Pintxo Fridays’ (5:30pm-8:30pm) launched by chef José Pizarro, where each drink our hard comes with a free pintxo (the Spanish equivalent of a cicchetti). I very much enjoyed the range of Spanish wines on the menu, there were beers and gin & tonic options, as well as soft drinks including a Big Tom tomato juice. It’s a very relaxing vibe, the staff were very friendly and we’re happy to talk us through the pintxo flavours - octopus, chorizo, manchego, Russian salad etc. The drinks weren’t too expensive either. Very enjoyable to do before and/or after seeing an exhibition at the RA.”

“The Poster Bar is in the ground flloor of the Royal Academy, Burlington Gardens entrance. The bar has been here a few years and serves really good coffee and 'bar' snacks. Sandwiches, quiches, croisants. Best coffee in the RA.”
