“The verdict: Watch out for plate snatchers, bring earplugs, and stick to texting the person sitting right next to you. Popped into BarBar on a casual weeknight, me and the missus fancied a change from the usual. No booking, so they sat us at the bar tables which was fair enough. Food was nothing too fancy but pretty decent. Then came the real entertainment, aka the plate ninja waitresses. Every five minutes a hand would dart between us mid sentence and swipe a finished plate or fork. I know she was just doing her job, but it happened so often I started wondering if they were running dangerously low on plates or cutlery in the kitchen. Honestly, we ordered a few bits but there was loads of room. Felt less like dinner and more like an F1 pit stop! To top it all off, the atmosphere was a bit of a mixed bag. Look, I know it’s not exactly posh nosh, but it's supposed to be a step up from Cafe de Coral. Instead, we had three local blokes sitting right behind us whose booming laughter was so deafening, I felt like I was eating at a Dai Pai Dong. If you're going to shout like you just had one too many, just go to an actual pub and save the rest of us the headache. Totally ruined the atmosphere. The cheesecake was nice though.”

“Worst Valentine’s Day dining experiencing 😡😡😡😡 Booked a week in advance for Valentine's Day, paid a deposit, and called to confirm. Nobody mentioned it was set menu only. When we arrived, the manager was incredibly rude. She spoke to us in a condescending tone, made us fee that we lied about not knowing about the set menu, and kept insisting they had notified us. I explained that my husband was allergic to seafood so the set menu won’t be ideal but I didn’t feel that we were heard at all, instead, I felt that we were looked down . Later she discovered they had been messaging the wrong number on WhatsApp, but didn't even apologize properly. The night was busy but the staff were patient and friendly except that manager. She used a rude tune to say like: What do you want now ?! That’s what we have for tonight , what do you want to drink ?! We felt humiliated to be served like this Throughout the meal she came back multiple times with the same attitude, making snide remarks. Completely ruined our special evening. Food was okay but the manager's behavior was unacceptable. I had come to BARBAR for many times including birthday , and the experiences are great and we had great memories. But seriously, after this time , I don’t think I will return. We dressed up, brought flowers and was expecting a romantic evening . However, my husband was mad at me because he thinks I made a really bad choice. We just quickly finished the meal and left within 1 hour , really ruined the whole night . I hope your restaurant can improve on this .”
