Maresco

Spanish restaurant in London, United Kingdom.
About
Maresco is a Spanish seafood restaurant with a strong Scottish accent. If you’re able to speak a bit of Spanish then the clue is in the name (mar means ‘sea’ and escocia means ‘Scotland’), with the linguistic fusion pointing to the wider idea: they take Scotland’s finest traditional seafood, and use it to make Spain’s finest traditional recipes. It’s all in Spain’s hands when it comes to Maresco’s drinks selection too, with wines picked from lesser-known regions, mostly of the low intervention kind, and those of which the owners have taken a liking to on their travels.

★★★★★via Google“The food here is delicious!! We ordered razor clams, mussels, croquetas, jamon iberico, Iberian pork cheeks, Padron peppers and more… and everything was tasty! Definitely try their basque cheesecake. The staff were attentive and very friendly. I’m definitely coming back here.”
★★★★★via Google“If you are looking for nice Spanish food and tapas, maresco is a must go. Being recommended by friends and regretted not knowing this place earlier. Fresh and tasty seafood, and good portion for all the dishes. everything cooked to the perfect conditions. The Basque cheesecake is even better than a lot of patisseries 🍰”
★★★★★via Google“We went a week ago, on a Saturday early evening. The weather was nice and we were sat upstairs by the open window. Felt like we were in Spain. The manager was there to greet and help with choices, the staff were excellent - so were the food. We had razor clams, charred prawns, seabass ceviche among other things and a reasonably priced excellent wine. Go.”
★★★★★via Google“The food was absolutely delicious, and service was fast and friendly. I would highly recommend the duck rice, courgette flower, venison arrancini and the bread pudding dessert. If you like sweet cocktails the grenanda is a must have. We used an app called eat club that got us a discount which I'd recommend. The only thing to note is that the cheesecake tastes cheesier than most cheesecakes I've had in the past- I assume this is because that's how traditional Basque cheesecake is made and it was an oversight on my part.”
★★★★★via Google“Been here a few times now and the food here is really good but can certainly add up to be quite pricey. We went for 5 dishes and 2 desserts between 2 of us, of which I highly recommend: Arroz Negro with Halibut, Tuna Cheek, Sea Bass Sausage, Bread Pudding and Basque Cheesecake. Usually the ceviche is really good but it seemed like a miss today, not much flavour, same with the lamb and aubergine. Sitting at the counter was an experience, seeing all the dishes get out together. Only thing is none of the seats other than downstairs have backs, they are all high stools, so can be uncomfortable after a while. If you want a comfortable seat, book with more than 2 people and there's a chance you'll be seating down stairs.”
★★★★★via Google“Very positively surprised by how nice the food here is. Classic Spanish tapas setting with counter seats so you can watch the chefs preparing your dishes. Service was friendly and the chefs prepared the dishes very fast. The seabass ceviche was really nice and the gambas grilled over charcoal mmmhhhj. Lamb over aubergine puree was also one of the highlights and don’t forget to try their homemade basque cheesecake. They are right now doing up to 50% off discounts trough the fork app which makes them great value too.”
★★★★★via Google“If you’re in Soho and craving great seafood, Maresco is a solid choice. It’s got a cool, laid-back vibe with an open kitchen and a nice buzz without feeling hectic. The seafood is the star — fresh, simple, and full of flavour. Oysters and sea bass ceviche are especially good, and everything feels well made without being fussy. Cheesecake was exceptional! There’s also a strong Spanish wine list that pairs really well with the food. Overall, it’s a great spot for dinner with friends or a casual date. Definitely worth checking out. We’ve been looked after really well by Kelly -professional with great knowledge of the menu. We had a great time and will be back!”
★★★★★via Google“Solid meal. The wild seabass ceviche was fantastic, the quality of the fish stood out. The sobrasada and Mahón cheese croquetas, venison, Txistorra, chipirones and the black rice were also top-tier. Also, great finds on the wine list too, both the Taganán from Tenerife and the Parajes del Bierzo paired really well with the food. Definitely coming back! (Often)”
