“Overall nice place, good location and a sunny terrace. Food was alright. Some positions were really good, others were meeeh. I really liked Pan con tomate with sourdough bread + we ordered chorizo separately. Cabbage dish was very mediocre and octopus was chewy. All dishes were quite spicy. I am not a big fan of spicy food so this could have been communicated. I also liked chocolate ganache but they added rhubarb that I don’t like, also wasn’t written about it (was just “seasonal fruits”) Service was a bit weird.”

“Service was very cold, slightly rude. Also for a restaurant that is supposed to serve Spanish food and being from Spain myself, it lacked any sort of Spanish hospitality and customer care. Limited menu, with main dish prices. Not only that, but the technically Spanish dishes were not Spanish. If you appreciate Spanish food you will know immediately. The bravas were topped with a ketchup sauce instead of authentic salsa brave. Plus, the smallest and tasteless anchovies ever hidden under an amount of onions, and the shrimp with too many un necessary chips... Such a shame, because the place and the decor is exquisit. Wouldn't go back unfortunately; either they change the menu and call it something else (not Spanish), or for those prices (6+€ for a toast with the smallest anchovy ever) try to make it more real... Oh, the food arrived within 2minutes, all lukewarm and potatoes were cold... also, understandably being in the Netherlands not everyone speaks English or Spanish. However, opening a Spanish restaurant with a Spanish name we didn't expect to receive such confusion for ordering the food by their Spanish name as they are printed on the menu.”

“What a lovely place! We were accommodated very well (big group of 9 people and a baby), the food and drinks were delicious, and we just had a great time. El Bar was not noisy even though it was full at some point, we could still hear each other and enjoy conversation. “We stumbled into El Bar on a rainy Sunday afternoon in The Hague. Little did we know, we’d stumbled upon greatness. We were greeted by the very friendly staff and the vibes inside the restaurant are immaculate…. And all this is before we’d tasted the food! We ordered the crispy potatoes, calamari and fried gambas and all were incredibly rich in flavour and good sized portions. Finally we had the dulce de leche french toast to round things off and this also lived up to the same high standards as the main course. Overall, I gotta give El Bar 10/10. I will be back soon to try the rest of the menu 🔥”
