“This year I decided to celebrate my birthday at Asador 44. What a special restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel so welcome by the staff. Our servers were so friendly and made some excellent recommendations for wines to pair with our starters and mains. To start we opted for a variety of rich monkfish with ossobucco and freshly dressed crab with heritage tomatoes, absolutely delicious! The prawn croquetas were also a highlight - little shellfish bisque bombs! Our sharing main was a Welsh bone-in sirloin, cooked to a perfect medium rare with the fat nicely rendered, the depth of flavour in the beef was incredible. The olive oil fries were so crispy and the tomatoes with sherry vinegar dressing were a fresh accompaniment to cut through the fat of the beef. The romesco and peppercorn sauces were some of the best I’ve tried! To finish we opted for some sorbets and ice creams with a glass of Pedro Ximenez sherry, can’t beat it! Thank you to the team for looking after us and giving us a meal to remember! Can’t wait to visit again!”

“Went here for food for the first time tonight for our anniversary. We were served by a lovely lady who was on her 3rd shift. Service and food was great just if I was being picky wasn’t enough for two people on the 600g Sirloin with bone in. Pepper sauce was very generous compared to most restaurants and the chips were lovely but another small negative would be for £69 steak chips to be included should be a minimum. We would definitely visit again 💯 and overall a very satisfied evening.”

“Asador 44 was genuinely excellent from start to finish. We had the sourdough with wild garlic, scallop, venison tartare, Welsh sirloin, fries, peppercorn sauce, and the leek and Galmesan gratin. Everything felt considered, well cooked, and properly seasoned. The venison tartare was the standout dish for me. It had a beautiful depth of flavour, with that clean, rich venison taste, but it never became heavy. The ajo blanco added a smooth, nutty creaminess, while the hash brown gave it warmth and crisp texture. It all worked together incredibly well. Every bite had contrast: soft, crisp, rich, fresh, savoury, and slightly sharp. It was an absolute delight. The sourdough with wild garlic was also really good. The bread had a lovely char and chew, and the wild garlic spread was balanced beautifully. It had enough punch to be interesting, but it was not overpowering or harsh. The scallop was perfectly cooked. Soft, sweet, and almost melting in the mouth. The pairing with veal was interesting, but it made sense once you tasted it. The veal brought a deeper savoury note, while the scallop stayed delicate and sweet. The Welsh sirloin was lovely too. It had proper beef flavour, a good grilled edge, and was seasoned perfectly. I noticed there were no salt and pepper shakers on the table, although I am sure you could ask for them, but honestly, we did not need them. The kitchen had seasoned everything exactly as it needed to be. The fries were excellent: crisp on the outside, soft in the middle, and full of flavour. The gratin was comforting and rich without being too much. I especially liked the leek in it. It brought a sweet, soft warmth to the dish and tasted like very good quality produce. Isabella looked after us wonderfully. She was attentive, kind, and made us feel comfortable without ever making the service feel forced. The restaurant itself felt welcoming and relaxed, and even the small details were right. The toilets were clean, and the soap smelled great, which always leaves a good impression. Overall, this was a really strong meal: great ingredients, confident cooking, excellent seasoning, and lovely service. I would happily recommend Asador 44 to anyone, and more importantly, I would genuinely look forward to coming back to Cardiff just to have that tartare again.”

“Visited here today to have lunch to celebrate my partners 70th birthday. We love Spain 🇪🇸 and Spanish food and wine so we decided to give this restaurant a go and boy we are glad we did. We decided to start ghe meal with some olives 🫒 and toasted sourdough bread with burnt onion butter, mmmm. Then for mains my partner had hake and I had octopus 🐙 . Both dishes were really delicious. We then decided to finish lunch with a dessert. I had the dark chocolate tart and my partner had the Blood orange Catalana. Both were excellent. We had a small carafe of Rioja and a beer.. Service was friendly and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.”

“What a lovely surprise, it was a great place with excellent food, served hot and fresh. There was a great selection of wines too. Definitely recommend this place. Staff were attentive, friendly and tried to accommodate my needs as best they could. I am a little hard of hearing, and the acoustics of the restaurant made it difficult for me to hear conversations. I made the staff aware of this and they did their best to position us at a quieter area.”

“What a pleasant surprise of a restaurant. We had the fixed menu. The starter was amazing, such a flavour sensation. The main was cooked to perfection. “Great service only surpassed by the quality of the food. Had the sharing lamb as a main , with prawn croquettes and sourdough to start. The tables are spaced out, the service not intrusive and the general atmosphere was good. Look forward to eating there again.”
