“We tried the Chef’s Tasting Menu, and it was a fantastic experience. Every dish was beautifully presented, and it was fun trying the chef’s creations. The only downside is that the courses take a little while to come out, but it’s understandable since everything is freshly prepared.”

“I went to Madrina Tapas Bar yesterday with my wife and a few friends to have some drinks and watch a World Cup game. The bar was mostly empty, with maybe four other people besides us on the patio, and I think it was completely empty inside. A friend made the reservation, so I didn't see the booking details myself, but we were surprised to learn there was a minimum spend of $50 per person, which seems quite high. The hostess explained that it was because of the World Cup game, but considering the bar was almost empty, it felt a bit odd. I don't mind spending $50 (my own bill ended up being more than double that), but I think this policy should be made much clearer on their website or reservation system. The food itself wasn't particularly impressive. It wasn't bad, but there was nothing memorable about it, which was disappointing given that they have a Michelin plaque on the wall. I had the open-faced crab sandwich, but it was so bland that it could have been Styrofoam and I probably wouldn't have noticed. That was the low point of the meal. I also had a grilled octopus and potato skewer, which was decent. For drinks, I ordered the cucumber and herb gin and tonic. It tasted nice, but there was very little alcohol in it. I even asked my friends if they could taste the gin, and they agreed it was barely noticeable. On the other hand, the wheat beers were very good. For dessert, I had the leche frita with sorbet and a citrus sauce. The leche frita and the sorbet were both enjoyable, but I don't think the citrus sauce complemented the dessert very well. Overall, it's an okay place to visit. I don't regret going, but based on this experience, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return.”

“12/10 experience! The service by Latish was incredibly attentive and proactive throughout the evening. We enjoyed starters, mains, and wine — and the wine selection was absolutely beautiful. My personal favorite was the Girls Olives, definitely a must-try item! “Tucked into the Distillery Historic District, Madrina Bar y Tapas fits the neighbourhood perfectly. Between the cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and lively energy of the Distillery District, it already feels like a great night out before you even walk through the doors. Inside, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous with high ceilings, moody lighting, warm textures, and a stylish modern Spanish design that feels upscale without being stuffy. We went on a busy evening and were happy we booked reservations ahead of time because the restaurant was packed. We started with sangria, which was refreshing and paired nicely with the food. We shared a few dishes tapas-style, beginning with the Steak Tartare on a Roasted Marrow Bone with egg yolk sauce, soy pearls, and crispy toast. Rich, flavourful, and beautifully plated. Easily one of the highlights of the night. We also ordered the Pulpo con Papas Aliñás. The smoked octopus was tender with a nice char, and the Andalusian potatoes and mojo rojo tied everything together really well. Our final savoury dish was the Shrimp and Clam Paella with saffron aioli and lemon zest. Comforting, well cooked, and full of flavour without feeling overly heavy. For dessert, we shared the Manchego Cheesecake with raspberry crumble and raspberry sorbet. The slight savouriness from the cheese worked surprisingly well with the bright raspberry flavours. We also finished with Amaros, which were served in beautiful glassware and felt like a classy way to wrap up the evening. Service stayed warm and professional despite how busy the restaurant was. Madrina really nails the full dining experience: atmosphere, presentation, cocktails, and quality food all working together. Definitely one of the standout restaurants in the Distillery District.”

The flavors were incredible and everything was beautifully presented. Our only small note would be that the paellas were a bit on the salty side; slightly less salt would have made them perfect. Aside from that, everything was fantastic. The interior is beautiful and cozy, creating such a warm atmosphere. The servers were amazing - so kind, friendly, and attentive. There are so many wine options to choose from, so we asked our server for a recommendation and ended up loving it. Overall, it was an awesome experience and we would definitely come back. Highly recommend!”
