“We were dubious about this restaurant's location when Uber dropped us off a block away... it's in a chaotic area of Mexico City, surrounded by random electronic stores, pawn shops and mysterious garage doors... But all this changes when you walk in: the staff welcomed our group like family and treated us like royalty. When we were uncertain of some Spanish words on the dessert menu (and because wifi was spotty), they provided photos and entertaining descriptions. Old fashioned charm, scrumptious food, and unpretentious hospitality. You won't regret making the trek! Tip: Portions are large so don't order everything on the menu (even though you'll want to) unless you have a fridge and microwave if you're visiting from out of town 😉”

“We had a really bad experience with a rude waiter named Cruz here. The other staff were friendly and the food was not bad. We came in craving some Spanish food to celebrate after our engagement earlier that day. Upon arriving we wanted to order appetizers and drink while we decided on a main course, but we heavily pressured to order multiple main dishes immediately. We resisted. We were then pressured to order the most expensive bottle of wine. We ordered one we liked in the middle. Then at every step of the way we were pressured to over order. We decided to split a paella for the entrada. Waiter Scoffs “only one?”. Yes, we prefer to share to try more dishes. When the paella came it was huge, it would of been crazy to order 2 as appetizer. This pressure to order more continued through main course and again after receiving dishes his recommendations would have been obsurd amount of food for 2 people. This continued with dessert order as well. We are pretty easy to please but he had this such an unpleasant experience that when it came time for the bill I selected only a 10 percent tip (still generous given service). He got visibly angry after I hit 10 scoffed, walked away without providing the receipt or saying buy. By far one of the worst service experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. Will not be back.”

“This restaurant is incredible!! There are two doors. We entered on the left and climbed the stairs to the second floor. The six course meal that evening was priced at $335 mxn. You order each course as you finish a course. First up for us was a voice among the chef’s salad, the melted cheese with cilantro and the mixed meats platter. We had questions are our amazing waitress brought over samples so we could see the food. Next up was the soup course. A choice between chicken consommé and sopa Azteca. Both were delicious. Next was the pasta course - a choice between paella valenciana and spaghetti arrabiata. No one was disappointed with their choice. After that, the fish course. We tried the breaded fish fillet and the fish medallion with lobster sauce. Again, they were expertly prepared, hot and delicious. The meat course offered options of a veal cutlet, an Argentine style roulade, and a filet Rossini. They were again all delicious. We were so full when the dessert course arrived. We tried the jam and cheese and the pastry with ice cream. Ay!! We could barely move and I’ve almost forgotten to tell you about the sangria. We had the red and it was fruity and very delicious. We learned that you can skip a course, but you can’t go back to it later. It was a beautiful room and a lot of fun.”

“I have gone to this restaurant since I was a kid. The decor had barely changed so yes. It is a little outdated. The service was efficient but a little bit on the rush side (I understand since it was almost the end of the day but still.) Food was really good and the main reason I keep coming back. We got the “cubierto” menu and it was generous and tasty. I think during the weekends they have live music.”

“Walking in was like being beamed into a restaurant in Madrid. I would have trouble trying to say whether the food or the service was better. Both were spectacular. I rarely give a 20% tip, but it was well earned. We will back for another dinner before we leave town. I wish we could get a Spanish meal as good as this in Costa Rica where we live. We went back after one year and the food and the service remained spectacular.”
