The everyday Andalusian answer to summer heat, tinto de verano is simpler and lighter than sangria: just cold red wine lengthened with fizzy gaseosa or lemon soda over ice. Locals reach for it far more often than the tourist-famous sangria.

Ingredients
- ·500 ml young red wine, chilled
- ·500 ml gaseosa or lemon soda, cold
- ·Plenty of ice
- ·1 lemon, sliced
- ·A splash of vermouth (optional)
Method

Chill the red wine and the soda well in advance.

Fill a large jug or individual glasses with ice.

Pour in the red wine and the gaseosa in roughly equal measure.
