“Wife and I are from South Florida and were looking for a great Spanish restaurant in Vienna… The number one thing we do when we aren’t seeking out wonderful restaurants around the world is watch Mark Weins, Sunny Side and the best food reviewers on YouTube. Travel for food, right? Think pure Jamon Iberico, huge grilled prawns, authentic Spanish beef, and the ANCHOVIES taste like wine, lemons, salt and the ocean on top of crispy potato chips! Max, the owner, is the best. He’s sharp and fun and makes sure you order to your taste. Finally, the location is super comfortable. Neighborhood vibes, elevated, across the street from a pretty park but just off the Main Street to enjoy a serene evening in Vienna. Try Max Braun’s El Chipiron. It’s worth it even if you only have a few nights in a beautiful Austrian city!!”

El Chipirón delivers the kind of classic Spanish dishes you rarely find outside Spain—Raquel’s traditional recipes taste like they come straight from a family kitchen. And then there are her “recomendaciones”: new, creative plates that show just how talented she is. Every visit feels like discovering something exciting and delicious. Max is the perfect host—you instantly feel welcomed, understood, and treated like a friend. He really knows what guests need. Definitely ask him for wine or cava suggestions. They have some truly unique bottles, including the incredible Pinot Noir cava from Jaume Giró i Giró. A warm atmosphere, amazing food, and exceptional cava… can’t recommend it enough! 🍷✨”

We had two seats in front of the show kitchen and it was a great place to enjoy and see all the different tapas they are offering. The kitchen was very calm and it was a great enjoyment. Food was atomicccalllyyy delicious 😋- my favorite are the Gambas, but ever single dish was high level excellent food. Basic Spanish feel-good food with great quality and a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff was also very welcoming and we enjoyed our evening a lot. Absolute recommendation!!!”

“Lovely restaurant! The food was very nice and very Spanish. We particularly enjoyed their olive assortment, the very good (but expensive, 18€ for 3) ribs and a simple pan con tomate. We paid 112€ including 15€ tip for a very nice dinner! However please note: if you are seated in the back room (especially on the bar), the smell of fried food is quite intense as you are quite literally sitting in the open kitchen next to the fryers. (If this doesn’t bother you, you get to enjoy watching the cooks work) :)”
