“El Txoko Alavés, right by the Bellas Artes metro station, is a cozy Spanish spot that delivers great food at a fair price. I stopped in around 5 PM for a beer, and the place had a calm, laid-back vibe with just a few people around. The draft beer selection could improve, there was only 2 options(Mahau and Alambra). I wasn’t planning to eat, but the paella immediately caught my eye, especially for the price. I’m so glad I tried it—it was amazing , very flavorful, a generous portion, and one of the best I’ve had in a while. The staff, especially at the bar, were super friendly and welcoming. If you’re in the mood for Spanish food, this is definitely worth a visit. Plus, they take credit cards.”

“Great quiet place to eat some good Basque food. Enjoyed the food as well as the atmosphere. The prices are great. The wait staff was very patient with our limited Spanish, however, if you don’t at least have someone that can speak Spanish I wouldn’t recommend trying it out. Communication was a bit tough. Certainly not their fault!”

“This resturant has many good reviews but I am sad to give a poor review. The bread tasted stale and old. The entrees (paella) had old and off tasting chicken with rubbery seafood and dried burnt bits of rice. I am sad to say that I didn’t eat anything after a few bites because I was worried of getting an upset stomach.”
